Wood & Cedar Cups

This is what came out of a small piece of maple branch. I left a small area of the cambium layer intact and it seems solid. I like the effect, plus there's a nice line around that is so close to the surface, it's almost gotta be related to the proximity of the bark.

Here are three similar turnings, all from cedar.

This one's slightly larger, but the most interesting aspect is the 'budweiser crown' formed by the grain coloration on the bottom.

I just did this one tonight, and in fact there's no finish on it when the picture was taken. I love all the knots.

  1. Are the cedar cups for sale? Is the finish safe to drink out of?
